Education Workshops

(23/07/10)
Lois said: a quick thought about ideas for the education workshop - I was in the Local Studies Collection today researching (micro...feesh(?)) so was looking at alot of news papers. I was intereted in how information was layed out - how things are listed and grouped on pages etc (think its because of building the website).

Anyhow, coming accross a friends blog I thought it could be an idea to look into making small period magazines/newspapers as a workshop idea. I think in the V&A Theatre and Performance gallery, this is touched upon - Playbill layout - positioning of elements based on 'importance'.

This applies to us mainly when the content is theatre(or performance) based, but I think is something that could be simple and effective and could also work as a transition for people if they are first doing a worksop at the Museum and then at the Theatre.

Also see for Toy Theatre worshops!

Website - Navigation Map & Initial storyboard

Website - Lois (02.07.10)

Lois Said: Here is the confimred navigation map for the website. A brief description of the content for each page is within each box/screen. The key shows the full name of content for other screens (eg PDF etc).

Anyone who would like to produce some blurb for each page feel free (some suggestions have already been put forward).

The Storyboard page is an initial layout - I have designed it for 15" screens (so we know most people will be able to view the site). Subsequent pages will scroll if needed.

The banner is currently a gif animation and has contact information for box office and creative learning in the white space - This is debatable as this is an Advertising banner and may not be the desired effect.

This being the case I have another banner which includes the Creative Learning Logo and is a still image.

I'm suggesting that each section (learning-richmond 110 - archive) has a designated colour (see V&A Musum of Chilhood site). I would make use of the colours in the versions of the creative learning logo - pink, blue, orange, grey. I would use pink, blue and orange for the three screens in the side-nav and use grey and purple/blue on the Main/Index page to link in with the Richmond logo (I would use lighter hues of each colour).
